Biography

Funeral services for Lisa M. Rivers, age 46 of E. South Street Ogdensburg, will be held on Tuesday (July 20, 2010) at 10:00am at Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Deacon Francis Bateman officiating. Her final resting place is Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 3-7pm at the funeral home. Lisa passed away on Friday (July 16, 2010) at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse surrounded by her loving family. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Surviving is her mother and step-father Barbara & Harry Knox of Ogdensburg; her father Thomas Rivers of St. Cloud, FL; a brother Joseph Rivers and his son Joseph Alexander Rivers of Tampa, FL; step-brothers Darren Rivers of St. Cloud, FL, David Knox and his wife Agnes of Utica; step-sister Claudia Knox and her daughter Angie of Utica; uncle Girard Rivers of Ogdensburg and several cousins.

Several aunts and uncles predeceased her.

Lisa was born on April 7, 1964 in Ogdensburg, NY a daughter of Barbara (MacTavish) Knox and Thomas Rivers. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and then continued her education at Potsdam State obtaining a dual degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She was employed as a social worker at Howd Nursing Home after college in Moravia for several years, and enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, shopping, crafts and watching Law and Order on TV.

Memorial contributions have been requested to the SUNY University Hospital Pediatric Unit in Syracuse or the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center in Ogdensburg.
